The Other End
The other end of the leash is someone else.
Every order sets aside one dollar. Each month we send it to a partner, and publish one story from the other end. The gift comes from us. The story is the receipt.
March 2026 · the first letter
“He would not eat until the dog had eaten.”
For three years, the man slept in a doorway with a dog named Rufus. He was offered shelter twice. Both times he said no, because the shelter did not take dogs, and he would not go anywhere without him.
What he could not always do was feed him. The partner we give to runs a pet food bank, and a monthly supply of food and flea treatment is the difference between Rufus staying and Rufus being surrendered.
“He would not eat until the dog had eaten. That is the whole story.”
This month, the food bank covered Rufus’s food and a check-up. The man kept his dog. That is what one dollar per order can do, when enough orders arrive.
Made by the studio, and by everyone who ordered in March.
Receipts are not spread across the page. They are kept in one folder, with dates and amounts, if you want to see them.
Open the receipts folder →Why one story, not a dashboard?
Because numbers do not make anyone feel responsible for anyone else. A story does. The number is small, and it is at the bottom, where it belongs.
Is this my donation?
No. It comes from the studio. Your order is what makes it possible, and that is a different thing, and we would rather be precise about it.
Why no personal page or badge?
Because giving is not a profile feature. If you ordered this month, you are already part of the letter. We do not need to keep score.
How is the partner chosen?
One partner at a time, chosen for what they actually do for pets and their people. We check their registration, ask for receipts, and visit when we can.
